01Overview

Pad Thai Deluxe Vol 1 draws on the best material from Marco Polo's Pad Thai drum kit series. The expansion includes 24 beats and programs that combine musical, bass and drum elements, so you can build a track quickly. The sounds are delivered raw with minimal processing, leaving room for your own shaping. The developer describes the sound as dusty and gritty, with punch and thump at the core, and the kit covers both one-shots and chopped original breakbeats.

03In depth

Sound, Character and Grit

Marco Polo's kits are built around a dusty, record-digging approach, and Pad Thai Deluxe carries that character across its 24 programs. AKAI says the material ranges from laid-back vibes to a harder, gritty edge inspired by Brooklyn, New York.

Because the sounds are provided raw, the punch and dirt come from the material itself rather than from heavy processing. That gives you a clean starting point if you want to add your own effects chain, or a ready-to-use kit if you want to start beat-making straight away.

The pack suits both modern and old-school Hip Hop production, whether you want chopped breakbeats or single hits to build your own patterns.

Using the Kit in MPC Workflows

Pad Thai Deluxe is made for the MPC ecosystem. Each of the 24 beats and programs is fully composed, so you can load one and audition how the musical, bass and drum parts sit together before editing anything.

The demos and presets are useful as a reference for how the kit is meant to be played. If you want a deeper look at Marco Polo's process, AKAI points to his "MP On The MP" YouTube series, season 1, which covers using Pad Thai in his production.

Since the expansion requires MPC software or hardware, it fits producers already working in that environment, including those using MPC Beats.
