01Overview

Creator Series: Classic House Foundations is a sample expansion from Niche Audio, the first pack in its new Creator Series of production packs for Maschine 2 and Ableton Live. It is built around instrument-specific sound banks rather than complete mixed kits, so producers can pick individual drums, basses, chords and synth sounds to build a track from scratch. The sounds are intended for the classic house style and are processed and tuned for the genre.

Instrument-Specific Sound Banks for Classic House

The pack is organized into 20 kits, each containing 16 sounds laid out on the standard 16-pad format. Niche Audio says the sounds were chosen from analog and digital gear and cover drum kits, chunky bass, chords and vintage synths.

Because the banks are split by instrument type, you can audition several basses or several chord sounds and keep only the ones that fit your track. The developer positions the Creator Series as a companion to its genre-specific packs, which provide mixed kits with all the sounds needed for a track or remix.

Workflow in Maschine and Ableton Live

In Maschine, the contents arrive as 20 groups containing 320 samples at 24-bit/44.1 kHz. In Ableton Live, the same sounds are provided as 20 Drum Racks, 160 Instrument Racks and 320 samples at 24-bit/44.1 kHz. Melodic instruments are placed in their own Instrument Racks for easy use.

Niche Audio says the melodic elements are tuned to the same musical key, and that the sounds were processed with the host software's built-in effects.
