The pack adds 101 presets built around wavetable synthesis, a digital technology associated with 1980s and 1990s synth sounds. Resonance Sound says the presets are tuned to sit well in a full mix, and that FX and modwheel assignments are included throughout. Pads make up roughly 40% of the soundbank.

03In depth

Wavetable pads and unison textures

The collection leans heavily on ambient, lush sounds created with unison wavetables. Resonance Sound points out that HIVE's filters, modulation and unison engine let these classic wavetable timbres sit in a modern production context.

Because pads account for about 40% of the 101 presets, the pack is best suited to producers who need atmospheric beds, sustained chords and evolving backgrounds. Presets are tagged in the HIVE browser, which makes it quicker to find a sound by character.

Controls and workflow in HIVE

Modwheel assignments are set up across the presets, so the mod wheel can shape movement while you play. FX assignments are included as part of the sound design.

The pack runs inside u-He HIVE, so you will need HIVE v1.2 or later to load it. Use the browser tags to narrow down the collection quickly when building a track.
