Hive 2 Expansion Pack: Synthwave is a preset collection of 65 sounds for the u-he Hive 2 synthesizer, covering basses, leads, keys, pads, strings, plucks, percussion, sequences, textures and effects.
Hive 2 Expansion Pack: Synthwave is a library of 65 presets built for u-he Hive 2. The sounds are described as soft and soothing, with rhythmic modulation, FM keys, wavetable pads and epic strings. Plugin Boutique Presets says the set suits ambient electronica, cinematic, synthwave, vaporwave and lo-fi music. The presets were designed by sound designer Adam Pietruszko, who specializes in avant-garde synth programming.
The pack's 65 presets are organized into clear categories. There are 6 basses, 6 mono leads and 8 poly leads for melodic and bass parts. Keys (8), pads (5), strings (3) and plucks (6) cover harmonic layers and chord beds.
Rhythmic and motion material is also included, with 6 percussion sounds, 4 sequences, 1 motion preset and 3 arpeggio presets. For atmosphere, the set adds 3 textures, 2 drones and 4 FX presets.
According to Plugin Boutique Presets, the timbres are intended for dreamy, retro-leaning and atmospheric production. The developer highlights surprising effects, sweet melodics and FM keys as central to the sound.
Because the presets are grouped by function, they can serve as starting points for a track: a bass and a lead for a synthwave cue, or pads, drones and textures for an ambient bed. Each sound can be edited within Hive 2 once loaded.
