01Overview

Resonance Sound developed this preset collection as a focused tribute to the trance sound of the late 1990s and early 2000s, updated for current production. The developer says the patches were shaped with tone modeling in mind, with the lows tightened, the highs brought forward and the behavior of each patch controlled so it sits cleanly in a mix. Every preset is intended to be usable directly in a track without heavy editing.

Sound Categories and Character

The bank contains 128 Virus TI presets across several sound types. Resonance Sound describes the bass sounds as weighty and driving, the leads as sitting clearly in a mix, and the plucks as clear and defined.

Pads are described as full and rich, while the ambient sounds are sparser and more ethereal. The developer says each patch was leveled and balanced for mix translation, so you can start building a track from any sound without first correcting its volume or tone.

Modwheel and Macro Control

Modwheel and macro assignments are built into the presets for expressive, musical morphing of the sound during a performance or while automating a track. These controls are set up so that movement stays in character with the patch rather than producing harsh or excessive changes.

The bank is aimed at producers who want the character of classic trance synth sounds combined with the consistency of modern sound design.
