How Zqueezer Shapes Sound
The developer describes Zqueezer as a kind of adaptive filter. Because its filter coefficients are derived from the waveform of the incoming audio, the filtering keeps changing as the sound changes.
The Overtone control selects and isolates flageolet overtones. At low settings the effect stays subtle. As the dial rises, individual overtones become audible and the squeezed frequencies rise in pitch. At extreme values, the result behaves somewhat like a band-pass filter, with more complex harmonic content.
The Gain control corrects amplitude at the output, which helps when balancing the processed signal against the original.
