Lofi Sound and Character in TRIO
The core of TRIO is its lofi toolkit. Bitcrush reduces the resolution of the signal, while Wow & Flutter and Tape Wow add pitch movement in two layers: a slow sway and a faster shimmer on top. Tape Sat handles saturation, and the developer says its drive is calibrated in real decibels with level-matched output, so more drive adds colour rather than volume. Vinyl and Dust add surface noise that is gated by an envelope follower on your audio, so the hiss swells as you play and fades on a long tail when you stop.
The Chorus effect is modelled on the bucket-brigade circuit of a classic 80s synth. It uses a triangle LFO, a bandlimited wet path and no feedback, which the developer says keeps the sound lush instead of metallic.
