Time Textures orchestral instrument by Sonuscore Kontakt interface

Time Textures: Orchestral Texture Engine for Kontakt by Sonuscore

Time Textures is an orchestral instrument by Sonuscore that runs in Kontakt and uses an algorithmic engine to create evolving textures from 13 orchestral instruments, controlled with a mod wheel and a simple modulation system.

01Overview

Time Textures is built around a new orchestral engine that layers and manipulates recorded orchestral sounds. Sonuscore describes its goal as textures that move and change in ways pre-recorded sample loops cannot easily do without heavy editing. The instrument is organized around 25 sampled patches, and its modulation system lets you shape how the sound progresses over time. It is aimed at composers and producers who want evolving ensemble beds, atmospheres and cinematic textures inside a Kontakt-based workflow.

Sound Character and Texture Engine

Sonuscore says the engine uses advanced algorithmic techniques to add depth and movement to orchestral instruments. Sound particles are emitted from the source samples and arranged into a continuously shifting wall of sound. The developer describes the result as textures that evolve without the repetition of a looped sample.

The engine's parameters are designed to be adjustable at any time. You can change how fast particles play back, how many octaves are emitted, and how they are distributed across the stereo field, which gives a wide range of results from muted to dense and bright.

Controls, Modulation and Workflow

The central control is the mod wheel. You decide which parameters are linked to it, so one gesture can move the sonic progression of a texture. A dynamic slider brings out different qualities of the sound based on how a note is played, from intimate to powerful.

Time Textures also includes a set of per-part controls, such as attack volume, seed, note select, gain and pan for each emitter. A movement control adds particles from special articulations to morph between sounds. Together these give you a modulation system that stays simple to operate while producing complex results.

The instrument includes over 200 presets split between naturalistic ensemble textures and cinematic presets with a wide effects chain.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What do I need to use Time Textures?

Time Textures requires Kontakt. It is compatible with the free Kontakt Player 6.6.1 or later, so you can run it without buying the full version of Kontakt.

Which operating systems does Time Textures support?

Time Textures supports Windows and macOS. The minimum listed requirements are Windows 10 or higher and macOS 10.14 or higher.

How much disk space and RAM does Time Textures need?

The instrument requires at least 6.17GB of free hard disk space. Sonuscore recommends 6 GB of RAM for large Kontakt instruments, with 4 GB listed as the minimum.

Do some presets need a powerful processor?

Yes. Sonuscore notes that some presets need a fast CPU to run smoothly and recommends an Intel i7 processor or higher for those.
