01Overview

Tape Guitar is built around warmth, texture and imperfection. Its engine combines four samplers with analog-style guitars, experimental textures and string tones, each with its own envelope, EQ, filter, pan, pitch and reverse controls. A texture player adds sounds such as vinyl crackle and rainfall, and six modulation tools handle movement, from sidechain-style pumping to random dropouts. The plugin ships with 160 factory presets aimed at mellow intros, soulful hooks and dusty loops.

Sound Engine, Texture Player and Modulation

Each of the four samplers holds more than 200 multi-sampled instruments, so the engine covers a wide range of guitar and string tones. Per-sampler controls for ADSR, EQ, filters, pan, pitch and reverse let you shape each layer separately.

The texture player layers sounds such as Vinyl Crackle, Broken Radio and Rainfall over your notes, with Stretch, Filter, Crush and Width controls. You can also load your own textures. The six modulation tools include Pumper, Panner, Pitcher, Wobbler, Dropout and Velocity Mod, which add bounce, stereo motion, pitch drift, tape-style movement and dynamic response.

Built-In Effects and Typical Use

The effects section includes a speaker simulator, chorus, flanger, wah wah, plate and convolution reverb, stereo and ping-pong delay with filter and reverse options, distortion, a lofi processor with three modes, and an analog-style filter section with highpass, lowpass and bandpass modes. This means most lo-fi processing can be handled inside the instrument.

The developer positions Tape Guitar for chill beats, lo-fi grooves, R&B slow jams and ambient scores.
