Sound Source and Character
The source is a clay rattle of the kind shaken to create sound through movement rather than through a fixed striking surface. Its contents of seeds, pebbles or ceramic beads give it a dry, granular, rattling quality that differs from the bright, metallic shakers common in drum kits.
Because the instrument is built from 607 Kontakt sample files, it offers a wide set of individual hits and gestures to work with, rather than a single looped rattle sound. Producers can use these samples to build patterns that feel human and uneven.
