RX1200 brings the sound of the classic E-mu SP-1200 sampler into a modern digital audio workstation. Inphonik focuses on the 12-bit character that gave the original its grit, crunch and warmth, paired with a streamlined interface built around sample performance. The instrument ships with a factory collection of more than 900 samples across 50 presets, so it is ready to play as soon as it is installed. Faithful 12-Bit Sound and Filter Character

The sound centers on Inphonik's effort to reproduce the SP-1200's signature tone. The plugin uses 12-bit resolution and a 26.041 kHz sample rate, and it emulates the SSM2044 low-pass filter. Inphonik also models the aliased down-pitch tuning of the original hardware, which contributes to the crunch of pitched material.

A switchable 4-pole resonant filter and input amp stage modeling let you push the sound toward the warm, gritty tone associated with classic beatmaking.

Workflow, Sample Slots and Editing

RX1200 provides 32 sample slots arranged as 4 banks of 8 pads, so you can build complex structures on a single instrument. Large faders control tune, volume and decay, which keeps the focus on the pads rather than on menus.

The visual sample editor is non-destructive and lets you truncate, normalize, reverse, loop and assign sounds to pads. Rather than including a sequencer, the plugin is designed to sit inside your DAW's own sequencing, with a chromatic play mode for melodic playing. The Speed feature changes playback speed to recreate the lowered-tune sound of records sampled at 45 RPM and played back at 33 RPM.
