REV is not a reverse button for your DAW or sampler. It is a sound design instrument from Output, built around reverse elements for producers, composers and musicians. The content is spread across four engines totaling more than 14 GB, covering synth patches, real instrument sounds, layered organic pads, loops, rises, pulses, swells and stutters. It runs inside Kontakt, either the full version or the free Kontakt Player.

Reverse Sound Design Across Four Engines

REV organizes its content into four engines. The collection includes complex synths, real instruments and multi-layered organic pads, along with loops, rises, pulses, swells and stutters.

Every one of the 1,000+ presets is playable in reverse and in real time. You can use the built-in presets as they are, start from scratch, or build your own patches and share them with other REV users.

Tempo Locking, Loops and Rises

Instruments can be played freely or locked to tempo, with notes set to whole, half or quarter note durations. The loops engine contains live-recorded loops that lock to tempo, adjust by speed and span two octaves. You can play several loops at once and add stutters, filters or effects.

The rises engine offers rises adjustable by key and speed, also locked to tempo, which the developer positions for electronic music, trailer music and build-ups or transitions.

Stutters, Filters and Built-In FX

Volume and pitch stutter effects can be synced to tempo or adjusted freely. REV also includes effects and FX presets for filters, envelopes, distortion, saturation, lo-fi, chorus, delays, reverb and EQ. These parameters can be automated and triggered from keys on the keyboard.
