Renegate uses program-dependent hysteresis, which adjusts how the gate opens and closes based on the material it processes. Program-dependent auto-release adapts the release time in the same way.

Built-in look-ahead lets the gate open before a transient arrives, so the attack is not clipped. Gain reduction can be applied with a 1-pole lowpass or highpass filter instead of the default curve. A raw knob lets you add back digital grit if the result is too clean.

The plugin runs 4x oversampling to reduce aliasing from the gating process.

The gate can be opened by MIDI, by the audio input, by the built-in sequencer, or by input and sequencer together. This makes it possible to rhythmically chop sustained sounds or to tie gate timing to incoming notes.

Using the sequencer alone lets you create repeating gate patterns without an external trigger source, which suits rhythmic gating on pads, synths and other sustained parts.
