Vintage Tube Character With a Wider Gain Range
Antelope Audio says RD47 is an authentic recreation of an Abbey Road Studios line amp used on its console. The original is associated with recordings made in Studio Two between 1964 and 1968, and the plugin is built to capture that analog color.
The main addition over the original is a larger gain range. Increased gain lets you move from subtle saturation to much more aggressive, dirty distortion, so the same plugin can color a gentle vocal or push a guitar hard.
The developer's own example is the raw guitar tone on The Beatles' "Revolution", which it uses to show how far the gain can be pushed.
