01Overview

PolyComp is an analogue-modelled dynamics processor from Audiority, built around three independent VCA compressor bands. Each band has its own threshold, ratio, attack, release and gain controls, along with a switch to bypass or mute it. Two crossover filters set where the low, mid and high bands divide. A dry/wet control allows parallel compression, and the interface can be resized to suit your screen. Audiority describes the design as inspired by a classic mastering multiband compressor.

Multiband control with independent VCA compressors

PolyComp splits the signal into low, mid and high bands using two crossover filters. Each band runs through its own compressor with separate Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release and Gain controls, so you can treat a bass-heavy low end differently from a bright high end.

The bypass and mute switch on each band makes it easy to audition a single band's contribution or remove it from the chain while you adjust the others.

Uses for corrective, mixbus and mastering work

Audiority positions PolyComp for three main jobs: corrective compression on individual tracks, mixbus compression on a group or master bus, and mastering. The band structure lets you target a specific frequency range, such as taming low-end buildup, without affecting the rest of the signal.

The Dry/Wet control supports parallel compression, where a heavily compressed signal is blended back with the unprocessed sound to keep transients while adding density.
