Tape Sample Sound and Shaping Controls
Mellotron is built around six tape sets covering the original flute, choir and strings samples. Each set can be played as a dirty version or a cleaned version of the original tapes, so you can choose between the raw character of the recordings and a more polished sound.
The Formant, Age and Sample Start controls let you reshape the tape sound further. Formant changes the tonal color, Age alters how worn the tape sounds, and Sample Start changes where playback begins within the sample.
Key-On and Key-Off samples add the attack and release noises associated with the original instrument, which helps the sound feel more like a real tape machine.
