FirePreAmp includes a Detect Input Level function that analyzes the incoming audio and sets input gain automatically. The built-in spectrum analyzer includes a High-Pass Filter, which you can use to remove low-end rumble below the lowest fundamental frequency of a source.

The gate is built around a Focus control that tunes it to a specific frequency, such as a snare's fundamental, so it responds less to bleed from hi-hats or cymbals. Depth, Ratio and Release controls shape how the gate opens, closes and sustains.

The plugin can also detect silence and enter a sleep mode, which the developer says reduces CPU use when no processing is needed.

The Color section offers soft saturation in four modes, from Soft to Rough, for adding harmonic content. The Clarity module uses a modern algorithm to brighten and define the spectrum, which can add sheen to a source while aiming to keep its natural balance.

The Punch module adds analog-style density and dynamic consistency. For percussive material, the Transient shaper with Attack and Resolution controls lets you adjust the attack portion of the envelope, for example to soften a harsh pick or add punch to drums.
