01Overview

Cello Waves expands the Nørdic Cello engine with arpeggiated cello material. The set includes major and minor loops in all keys, all tempo synced and time-stretchable, along with exotic chordal arpeggios. The WARPED control and ICE knob add granular pitched layers, grainy textures and cinematic reverb, so the instrument can move from acoustic cello to dense sound design. Most of the Nørdic engine features are included, among them the arpeggiator, the HOST tempo sync, Time Warp, and a set of built-in effects.

Sound Character and Sound Design Controls

Cello Waves offers two source options. Natural keeps the acoustic sound of the cello, while Warped adds a sound design layer. The ICE knob blends multiple sound design samples for large, cinematic results.

The WARPED slider adds a pitched granular layer to the major and minor cinematic loops, and the ICE knob adds a grainy effect. In the Film Noir patches, the same controls add dissonance and suspense to chordal arpeggios. Have Audio recommends the Major and Minor Waves NKI with WARPED and ICE set high and Time Warp set between 20 and 40 percent for drones and soundscapes.

Tempo, Arpeggiator and Effects

The HOST control syncs loops to the DAW tempo, and Time Warp slows down or speeds up playback whether or not HOST is active. The built-in arpeggiator offers five modes, up to 32 steps and four octaves.

Effects include reverse, dynamics control, 82 convolution reverbs and impulse responses, a delay algorithm, six additional effects (EQ, compression, saturation, chorus, phaser and Leslie) with three controls each, four FX macros, and ADSR envelope controls.

06FAQ

Questions, answered

What do I need to use Cello Waves?

Cello Waves requires the full version of Kontakt 6.6.1 or later. It does not work in the free Kontakt Player.

What formats is Cello Waves available in?

Cello Waves is available as a Kontakt instrument. It has a total uncompressed size of 1.89 GB and contains 963 samples in NCW format.

Can I sync the loops to my DAW tempo?

Yes. The HOST control syncs the loops to DAW tempo, and Time Warp lets you slow down or speed up playback with or without HOST mode.

What is the difference between the Natural and Warped sources?

Natural plays the acoustic sound of the cello. Warped adds a sound design layer that the WARPED control and ICE knob can shape further.
