01Overview

Big Swarma is an effects plugin built around voice multiplication. It takes an incoming signal and duplicates it across up to 16 voices, each of which can be detuned by up to one octave and spread across the stereo field. A feedback circuit adds further texture, and the developer describes it as capable of self-oscillation. The plugin is aimed at producers who want thick unisons, detuned pads or drone-like textures from almost any source.

Sound Character and Swarm Processing

Big Swarma's core process is the swarm. Up to 16 voices can be detuned by as much as an octave, and the detuned voices are spread across the stereo image through the stereo width control. Swarm Modulation adds movement to the voices over time.

The feedback circuit is where the plugin gets more aggressive. Audiority describes its feedback as intense and able to self-oscillate, and the FM on input signal feature adds harmonic complexity. A sub-octave generator can add low-end weight beneath the signal.

Filters, Gain Staging and Workflow

Shaping happens through two resonant filters, one high-pass and one low-pass, each with its own resonance control, plus a master filters cutoff. Pre and post effect gain controls let you manage levels before and after processing, and a mix control blends the processed signal with the dry input.

The interface is resizable, and MIDI mapping is available for controlling parameters from a hardware controller or automation.
