The Bass Ocarina Parrot is a sampled instrument based on a ceramic ocarina from Guaitil de Guanacaste, Costa Rica, a town known for ocarina production. The source instrument is larger than most four-hole globular flutes, which gives it a deeper tone. Sounds of the Earth developed the library for Kontakt, offering a sampled version of this bass ocarina for use in music production on Windows and macOS.

The developer describes the instrument as larger than most four-hole globular flutes, resulting in a deeper tone than standard ocarinas. The original is a zoomorphic ceramic piece made by Fran Campos, a fifth-generation ceramist working in the Chorotega style.

The library contains 390 Kontakt sample files and 43 audio files, with 8 Kontakt microphone options. The mic choices give you a way to shape the recorded character of the instrument within Kontakt.

Setup Requirements and Installation for Kontakt

Bass Ocarina Parrot requires the full version of Kontakt, version 7 or higher. The free Kontakt Player will not run the instrument and will operate in demo mode instead.

The library is installed with the Pulse installer and takes up 210MB of disk space. It runs on Windows 7, 8 or 10 with an Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 processor, and on OS X 10.10 or later.
