01Overview

Neurofunk Serum is the second release in 5Pin Media's Serum series. The pack contains 100 presets made for Xfer Serum, grouped by type: basses, reeses, subs, leads, pads, FX, stabs and percussion. Each preset is driven by macros, so you can shape tone and expression from a single set of controls. The developer also includes 22 drum WAV files taken from its demo track.

Neurofunk Sounds for Serum

5Pin Media says the presets draw on the sound of established neurofunk artists, and the pack is aimed at producers who want that style without building every patch from scratch. The largest group is basses, with 44 presets, followed by 16 leads and 11 reeses. Smaller groups cover subs, pads, FX, stabs and percussion.

Because the patches run inside Serum, you can open any preset and edit its oscillators, filters and modulation to fit your track. The developer notes that the macros can be controlled through a MIDI controller or by automating them in your DAW.

Macros, Controls and Included Drums

Each preset uses macro controls to set tone and expression. Mapping these to hardware knobs or automation lanes lets you change a sound during a performance or arrangement without opening Serum's full synth panel.

The pack also includes 22 drum WAV files from the demo track. These samples are a useful starting point for building a drum layout around the presets.
