Massive X - Indie Dance is a preset pack from LP24 Audio that loads into Native Instruments' Massive X. The 91 presets are split into 20 basses, 18 leads, 16 pads, 11 plucks, 15 FX, 7 synths and 4 drum designs. Each preset is built around Massive X's sequencer sections, custom routing and effects, and most use macro controls for quick tone shaping. The collection is designed around the sound of forward-thinking electronic artists.

Sound Categories and Character

The basses cover deep resonant sub-bass, bass stabs, retro-style bass, gritty bass and harmonically rich bass. The leads include sequenced synths, melodic riffs, melodic arpeggios, sweet and airy leads, and bold melodic powerhouses.

Pads range from smooth and organic to evolving and shifting, with some big and deeply emotive sounds. Plucks include keyboard-like lead plucks, pitched percussive chords and airy emotive plucks. The FX set spans drifting melodic riffs as well as buildups and breakdowns, and the four drum presets are drum designer patches.

The developer names Rufus du Sol, Hayden James, Odesza and Mansionair as inspirations for the sound direction.

Macro Controls and Massive X Workflow

LP24 Audio says the presets make heavy use of Massive X's macro system, with an average of eight macros assigned per preset and some presets using all 16. According to the developer, the macro assignments range from basic tone tweaking to more radical multi-parameter sound sculpting.

The presets are provided as Massive X preset files (.nksf), with all sounds from the demo included except the drums. LP24 Audio recommends using the latest version of Massive X from Native Instruments to get the most from the collection.
