01Overview

Bass Factory is an expansion pack for the String Studio VS-3 synthesizer, developed by Applied Acoustics Systems. Sound designer Christian Laffitte created the 100 presets, which range from deep sub-basses to upright jazz tones. The collection is aimed at producers who need bass sounds across styles, from jazz and pop to R&B, EDM, rock and metal. Each preset uses the String Studio oscillator engine, so the sounds can be shaped further in the synth.

Bass Sounds Across Styles

The sound bank is organized by bass type. It includes 24 acoustic basses, 30 slap basses, 20 finger basses, 12 synth basses, 6 fretless basses and 8 arpeggiated synth basses for sequencing.

The acoustic and slap sets suit jazz, pop and R&B arrangements, while the synth and arpeggiated presets fit EDM and electronic production. Rock and metal producers can use the finger and synth basses as a starting point.

All presets are built on the String Studio VS-3 string oscillator engine, which gives the sounds their characteristic grain and richness.

Requirements and Playback Options

Bass Factory requires the String Studio VS-3 synthesizer. After installation, the presets are added to String Studio VS-3 automatically if it is on your computer.

If you do not own String Studio VS-3, the bundled AAS Player plug-in can play the presets. AAS Player is available as a plug-in or as a standalone application and is free to use.

The package includes the AAS Player plug-in in VST, AU, AAX and RTAS formats.
