01Overview

Stride Engine is a modulation tool built around gear you already own. You load your instruments and effects inside Stride, click the knobs you want to move, and each control becomes its own lane on a canvas. Motion tools then write a different evolving curve on every unlocked lane in loops of 2 to 32 bars, locked to your DAW's tempo. Stride does not make sound itself; it moves the devices you already use.

Motion tools for evolving sound design

One click fills every unlocked lane. Chaos produces layered, organic wave motion for dense textures and ambient pads. Neuro creates dotted ramps, hard chops and stutters on the grid, aimed at neuro and DnB bass. Reflector pairs lanes into a base and a mirrored twin, so a filter can open while resonance drops.

Sample & Hold gives stepped random motion, either polyrhythmic per lane or locked to a grid from 1/8 to 1/32. Prism lets you draw on one lane while the others answer live. Bloom spreads the curve on your active lane across the other lanes as complementary variations.

Mutate and Shuffle rework curves you already like, so you can keep a take and vary it. Locked lanes keep their curves while the next click fills the rest.

Workflow, editing and saving

Stride lets you edit motion by hand with point and freehand drawing, grid snap with a triplet lock, Mirror, Flip, Swing, and 2x or 1/2x time stretch. Smooth, Depth, Curve, Floor and Ceiling can work on one lane or all of them at once.

Keyswitch Mode places eight tools on one octave of a MIDI keyboard, with the notes staying silent. Audio In routes guitar, vocals, hardware or any recording through a hosted effects chain with mapped knobs in motion. Chains can be saved as StrideChain files and loaded into any project.

In Ableton Live, the included StrideBridge maps Live's own devices onto the same canvas and can inject motion into a clip as editable automation.

Questions, answered

What is Stride Engine?

Stride Engine is a sound design plugin that hosts the VST3 instruments and effects you already own and moves their mapped knobs together. It generates motion curves rather than sound of its own.

What do I need to use Stride Engine?

You need a 64-bit VST3 or AU host. On macOS 11 or later, Stride runs on Apple Silicon or Intel. On Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), it needs a 64-bit VST3 host and Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which is preinstalled on Windows 11 and most Windows 10 PCs. Stride needs an internet connection to activate.

Does Stride Engine work in Pro Tools or with VST2?

No. Stride is not compatible with Pro Tools (AAX), and there is no VST2 version. Stride can host VST3 plugins and, on macOS, AU plugins, but cannot load VST2 plugins.

Do I need StrideBridge to use Stride Engine?

No. StrideBridge is optional and only for Ableton Live 11 or later with Max for Live. It is not available in Live Lite or Live Intro.
