Articulations and Sound Layers
Each piano in the library includes eight articulations: sustain, sustain with pedal, repetitions, repetitions with pedal, soft pedal, soft pedal with sustain pedal, staccato and release trails. Sustain and sustain-with-pedal layers offer 10 to 18 velocities per note, while repetitions and their pedal versions use 8 to 12 velocities. Soft pedal layers have 5 to 8 velocities, and staccato has 16 velocities on every piano.
Repetition samples were taken from performances at 180 BPM, so fast repeated notes are recorded as true repetitions rather than alternate takes. The software detects these true repetitions during playback. Pedal resonance is recorded for every note at multiple velocities, including with the soft pedal down, and release samples use a software envelope follower.
