01Overview

SRX PIANO I brings the sound of a rare European concert grand into a modern plugin. Roland's SRX line grew out of its wave expansion boards, which were a staple for producers and composers for more than two decades. This title is based on the Concert Piano set and uses Digital Circuit Behavior (DCB) modeling, so the hardware's digital components are reproduced alongside the original samples. It is a plugin for composition, recording and performance.

Piano Sound and Character

The samples were recorded from a single European piano using high-quality microphones and converters. Roland describes the result as a soft, delicate voice with natural resonance, captured in stereo.

Digital Circuit Behavior (DCB) technology is used to reproduce the original hardware's digital circuitry, not just its recorded sample data. Roland says this captures details of the original wave expansion board that a straight sample playback would miss.

Editing, Effects and Hardware Control

The interface offers deep sound-shaping parameters for editing the piano. Built-in reverb and chorus are included, along with 78 multi-effects types for further processing.

Customized sounds can be saved in unlimited user banks and recalled across projects. Knobs and sliders on compatible Roland hardware, such as the SYSTEM-8, can be mapped to the plugin for direct control.
