01Overview

Nørdic Cello is the cello entry in Have Audio's Nørdic Series. The samples were recorded by cellist Jean-Philippe Feiss and cover a broad set of articulations, including true legato, staccato, pizzicato, tremolo, sliding patterns and harmonics. The library runs on a shared engine that adds time-stretching, an arpeggiator, reverse effects, convolution reverbs and a drag-and-drop slot for your own samples and loops. It requires the full version of Kontakt rather than the free Kontakt Player.

Articulations and Playing Techniques

The patches cover melodic articulations such as true legato, staccato and pizzicato, along with tremolo and sliding figures. Several patches group key switches for related techniques. Harmony of the North offers polyphonic sustained notes with vibrato, harmonics, crescendo and other variations, while the Pizzicato patch includes long, short, harmonic, vibrato and slap options.

A Mixed Articulations patch places six main articulations in one instrument for quick switching between legato, staccato, pizzicato, harmonics and tremolo.

Separate texture sets add body hits, bow textures, low engines, rises and bouncing sounds for cinematic material.

Engine Features and Controls

The Nørdic engine includes Time Warp, which time-stretches textures, transitions and some articulations to adjust tempo, create accelerando or ritardando, and generate drones. ICE blends multiple samples for larger results. The arpeggiator offers five modes (Up, Down, Up-Down, Down-Up and Random), up to 32 steps and four octaves.

Six additional effects (EQ, compression, saturation, chorus, phaser and Leslie) each have three controls, and four FX macros can be assigned freely. Two mic positions let you blend a stereo mic with a direct input signal. The drag-and-drop slot imports your own samples and loops, and loops are tempo-detected and synced to your DAW through the HOST setting.
