Gate mode closes the signal firmly once it drops below the threshold, which suits drum tracks and sources that should go fully quiet between hits. Expander mode reduces the level more gradually, so the result can sound more natural on vocals or amp noise.

Auto mode analyzes the incoming signal and adjusts the main parameters automatically. The Auto Strength control sets how much processing is applied, so you can get a usable result quickly and then refine it manually.

Threshold, Attack, Hold, Release and Range control when the gate opens, how fast it responds, how long it stays open, how it closes and how much level is removed. A shallower Range setting avoids complete silence when that sounds more natural.

The SC Filter reduces low-frequency content in the detection path, which helps prevent false triggering from kick drums or other low-end energy. SC Listen lets you hear what the detector responds to, and Delta monitoring lets you hear only the signal being removed, making it easier to catch settings that are too aggressive.
