01Overview

NASTRO VHS is the second release in the NASTRO series from Have Audio. Its patches are built from synth tones, loops and textures that were re-processed through real VHS recorders to add dirt, static noise and detuning. The developer describes the sound as shaky, glitchy and full of fluctuations, with a strong static layer. The instrument is designed for Kontakt and can be used on its own, though it is built to blend with NASTRO Soundscapes.

Sound Sources and Patch Types

The library includes 52 sound sources. Twenty-one are long synth tones, made from 10 analog synth patches and 11 hybrid synth patches. Fourteen are short synth tones, made from 10 analog and 9 hybrid patches.

The rest of the set covers three tempo-based loop patches, three textures and effects patches, and six VHS static noise patches. The static patches give you a retro noise layer you can place under or over other sounds.

Each of the four channels can play in four modes: Normal, Reverse, Normal Loop and Reverse Loop.

Playback Speed, Effects and Workflow

In Sync Mode, each channel offers three playback speeds: half speed, normal speed and double speed. This keeps layered parts locked to the project tempo. In Free Mode, you can set speed manually.

The instrument includes 20 new IR effects for coloring the sound. It also has built-in FX macros for pan, EQ, compression and saturation, so you can shape each channel without opening separate processors.
