01Overview

Jura is an instrument plugin from AIR Music Technology based on the sound of a well-known Japanese analog synth from 1982. The developer says the original sound has been recreated closely, with a single oscillator, a sub oscillator and the original filter character. Jura adds a second envelope, a switchable expanded interface, a 3-band EQ and modern modulation options. It runs as a plugin in common DAWs and also in a standalone mode.

Sound Character and Synthesis Engine

Jura's oscillator section offers pulse, saw, sub and noise waveforms, and pulse width can be shaped manually, with an LFO, or with one of two envelope sources. The filter section includes cutoff, resonance, saturation and drive, with modulation from an invertible envelope, LFO, keyboard and velocity tracking.

The VCA has gate and envelope modes with velocity tracking, and two ADSR envelopes are included. An analog character knob adds further coloration. The developer also includes two noise types, described as modern and vintage, for the oscillator.

Effects, Modulation and Performance Controls

The effects chain includes a classic Juno-style chorus, a delay of up to 2 seconds with BPM sync, a reverb section and a 3-band EQ. The LFO is BPM syncable and offers 8 shapes, including two random generators, with speed, delay and ramp controls.

For playing, Jura provides detune-able unison, editable chord modes, glide, modulation wheel and pitch-bend controls, and an arpeggiator. The interface can be switched between classic and expanded control layouts.
