01Overview

Glass is a sound-design instrument from Murst Instruments that works with Kontakt. Its four instruments each draw on 16 selectable sound sources, covering analog basses and pads, acoustic strings and woodwinds, modular synths and granular processed material. The developer describes the instrument as a way to explore looped textures that slowly move and change. A set of effects can warp and expand the sources, and 40 preset snapshots give a quick starting point.

Textures, sources and the four banks

Glass is organized into four instruments, each with 16 selectable sound sources. Swell focuses on acoustic instrumentation with long, evolving forms. Tape works with analog tape and delay processing, which the developer ties to a Uher monitor and a Roland Space Echo. Resonance imitates the vibrating, resonant behavior of objects such as tubes, drum skins and strings. Glitch uses mangling processes to reshape acoustic and digital waveforms.

A layered keyboard lets you play all four banks at the same time, so you can combine instruments in a single performance.

Front panel controls and modulation

The front panel gives direct access to the most immediate parameters: volume, envelopes and effect sends. Buttons reveal further modulation controls for the filters when you need deeper shaping.

The instrument does not support MPE, so expressive per-note control from MPE controllers is not available.
