Sound and Character of the BBD Delay
Dark Memory simulates the bucket-brigade device (BBD) circuit that gave vintage analog delays their warm, degraded repeats. The developer says the emulation reduces bandwidth as the delay time increases, so longer repeats get progressively darker.
The Memory Man-based design also covers chorus, using the modulation controls to add movement to the signal alongside the delay.
Delay time depends on the chip model: the MN3005 emulation reaches up to 310 ms, and the RD5108A emulation reaches up to 4 seconds.
