BX3: Three-Band Multiband Compressor by Antelope Audio

Each band carries its own input and output level, threshold, attack, release, ratio, response and knee width controls, along with bypass and mute buttons. A Limiter module and an RMS or Peak detector switch add further control over how the signal is measured and limited.

The plugin includes visual tools to help with setting levels. A frequency response plot covers all three bands, an I/O spectral analysis plot shows the compression ratio, and a three-band gain reduction display shows how much each band is being reduced. A Lookahead Delay knob lets the plugin react to upcoming transients up to 20 ms ahead.

Two selectable filter slope modes give different character at the crossover points, and separate knobs set the Low and High crossover frequencies. This makes it possible to target specific ranges, such as tightening the low end of drum-heavy material or rolling off excessive highs.

Antelope Audio positions BX3 for mastering, where subtle gluing of a finished mix is a common task, and for mixing, where it can be used on individual parts or buses. The developer says the design balances complex processing with a user-friendly layout.
