Articulations and Balkan Phrasing
The instrument's core is its set of 18 keyswitched articulations. Sustain notes and a strong vibrato sustain give long lines expression. Short mordents come in half-tone, whole-tone and minor-third versions, and double mordents are included as well.
Staccato, double staccato and triple staccato articulations cover rapid repeated notes, while short glissandos up and down (scoops) add the slides typical of Balkan ornamentation. A Balkan Phrase articulation is tempo-synced, as are two approach note groups for melodic runs.
