01Overview

AmpKnob BH4 is an amp simulator from Bogren Digital, built around a high-gain amp voice aimed at tight riffs and heavy low end. The developer says the two featured channels were captured with producer Jens Bogren, and the plugin includes a boost pedal option. It is part of the AmpKnob series, which is designed to get from plugging in to a finished-sounding guitar tone with minimal setup. Amp Tone, Cabinets and IR Loading

The BH4 models two channels from a high-gain amp, with channels 3 and 4 as the featured voices. A boost pedal option is included to push the front end further.

For the cabinet section, you can choose from Modern or Vintage speaker models, or load your own impulse response (IR) for more tonal options. Bogren Digital's IRDX technology is applied to the included speaker models and to any IR you load, which the developer says gives a more dynamic, lifelike response than a standard IR loader.

Standalone Use, Riff Recorder and Tools

Besides running as a plugin inside your DAW, the BH4 is available as a standalone application. This lets you play or practice without opening a DAW.

The standalone version includes a metronome and a riff recorder, so you can capture an idea and later drag the audio file into your DAW to build the rest of the track. Both the plugin and standalone versions include a tuner and a noise gate.
