01Overview

AmpKnob BDH III is built around one main control, with the amp model, speaker cabinet and microphone chain already set. The developer describes its sound as full and rich, with dense distortion suited to modern riffs and creamy leads. The original amp comes from producer Jens Bogren's personal collection and was used on albums recorded at his Fascination Street Studios. A pedal switch on the front panel tightens the low end and drives the input harder, and the free 14-day trial does not require a credit card or iLok.

Sound and Character of the BDH Amp Model

The BDH tone is aimed at modern rock and metal guitar. The developer describes the distortion as dense and full, a good fit for chugging riffs and sustained lead lines with a smooth, creamy top end.

A built-in pedal switch is activated from the front panel. Engaging it tightens the low end and pushes the input harder, which the developer recommends as the default mode for heavy riffing.

The speaker cabinet, microphones and recording chain were selected and dialed in by Jens Bogren. You can disable the cabinet or load your own impulse response from within the plugin.

Standalone Recording and Practice Tools

The standalone version of AmpKnob includes built-in recording, so you can capture a riff without opening a DAW. It also has a metronome that can change meter, accent beats or increase speed automatically, plus a tuner for practice sessions.

These tools are only available in the standalone build. The VST3, AU and AAX plugin versions run inside a host DAW.
