Preset categories and what each covers
The 50 presets are split across arps, basses, chords, leads, plucks, stabs and synth pads. House of Loop describes the arps as arpeggiated sequences meant to add movement to a composition, and the basses as deep, resonant lines for the foundation of a track. The lead presets are described as expressive sounds meant to cut through a mix, and the plucks as bright, percussive melodies for adding sparkle to an arrangement.
The stabs are short, rhythmic accents, and the synth category covers pads and textures that build a wider atmosphere. Because the sounds are grouped by role, you can pick a bass or stab for one part of a track and then move to a pad or chord patch for another without auditioning the whole pack.
