Patchworx 40 Deep House Synths is a Reason preset pack built around Combinator patches for deep house production. Loopmasters commissioned the sounds from producer Dan Larson, who routed Reason's built-in instruments and effects, including Thor, Maelstrom and Subtractor, with Unison modes to add the richness the genre calls for. Each patch has assigned knob controls ready for tweaking.

Sounds and Sound Design in the Pack

The pack contains 65 Combinators organized into basses, chords, leads and effects. The 22 bass patches are described as warm and fat, the 21 chord instruments as lush, and the 19 leads cover melodic parts. Three SFX sounds round out the set.

Dan Larson built the patches using Thor, Maelstrom and Subtractor, with Unison modes adding thickness. The developer says each sound was sculpted to cut through a mix, which suits the crowded low end and midrange of deep house tracks.

Template Songs and MIDI for Deep House Production

The pack includes 65 MIDI files and 62 Reason template song files. Each template contains a Combinator patch with its own MIDI file and automation, so you can open a song and hear a sound in a musical context.

The templates work as song starters or as a way to study how the patches are programmed and automated. They are useful when you want a starting point for a deep house arrangement rather than building every part from scratch.
