01Overview

LANDR Horizon is built on a hybrid engine that combines high-fidelity recordings of bowed cellos and other acoustic instruments with synthesis. The developer says it is designed to give arrangements a sense of scale and emotional weight. A four-layer structure lets you stack different sound modules within one patch, from the soft air of a string section to a driven, gritty cello tone. A central Morph control moves the sound between bright, open and dark, hollow characters, and spatial processors place sounds near or far in the stereo field.

Sound Design: Layers, Morph and Global Tone

Each patch can combine four sound modules, so you can stack contrasting characters in a single instrument rather than running several plugins. The Morph controller is the main performance element. Moving it right brightens the sound and opens it up, while moving it left darkens it into hollow, moody textures. Because it is a single control, you can automate it to shape energy over the course of a track.

The Global Tone & Filter control shifts the overall frequency character of a patch with one knob, which is useful for moving quickly between low, underscored pads and brighter lead sounds.

Space, Dynamics and Library Contents

Lusher and Harmonic Delay are used to sculpt the 3D field, either pushing sounds into the distance or bringing them into sharp focus. The Randomizer offers a fast way to generate new spatial settings when you are looking for an unexpected starting point.

The library includes 150 factory presets and 30 custom-designed sound sources based on captured cello and bowed acoustic recordings. A built-in Glue Compressor is meant to keep dense, layered textures balanced and prevent volume spikes and clipping.
