03In depth

Drum Sounds for Techno, Minimal and Industrial Grooves

Audiomodern describes Voltage as a high-energy pack aimed at underground dance music. The developer says it focuses on deep kicks, hypnotic percussion and driving rhythms suited to peak-time techno, minimal and industrial styles.

The 40 drum presets give you ready-made patterns and sound combinations in these genres. The 200+ samples and kits add more raw material, so you can rebuild a groove with different hits or mix elements from several kits.

Using Voltage Inside Playbeat 4

Voltage is an expansion for Playbeat 4 and cannot be used on its own. Install it into the host app, then browse its presets and kits from within Playbeat.

Because the pack is made up of presets and samples, it works best as a source of starting points. Load a preset, replace or layer kit sounds, and adjust the pattern to fit the track you are making.
