01Overview

Serum Expansion Pack: Hype is a preset library built for Xfer Records Serum, the widely used software wavetable synth. The pack focuses on low end first, with 30 808 presets to serve as a foundation for a track. It also includes chords, leads and plucks for building harmonies and melodies. The developer notes that the presets are compatible with both Serum v1 and v2, so producers working with either version can load them directly into their projects.

What Is Inside the Hype Preset Pack

The pack contains 64 presets in total, split across four categories. The largest group is 30 808 presets, which provide the bass layer for a track. Twenty lead presets cover melodic and top-line sounds, while seven chord presets and seven pluck presets offer harmonic and rhythmic material.

Because every preset is built for Serum, the sounds can be opened, edited and reshaped with Serum's oscillators, filters and modulation, so they work as starting points rather than fixed sounds.

Using the Presets in Serum Productions

Developer Plugin Boutique Presets says the pack was built using the full range of Serum's capabilities and aims to bring punchy, bright sounds into modern productions. The 808 section is the place to start, since the developer frames the low end as the foundation of the collection.

The chords, leads and plucks give producers a set of harmonic and melodic ideas to build from, whether for a full arrangement or a quick sketch.
