01Overview

The Knock is the first expansion released for Beat Machine from DopeSONIX. It is aimed at producers who want heavier Hip Hop drums. The pack contains 100 drum kits in two layouts: 50 stereo kits for quick use and 50 multi-out kits for more control in the mix. Each kit has been EQ'd and pre-mixed so it is ready to play straight away. The pack also includes 200 newly made Hip Hop drum samples. It requires Beat Machine 1 or Beat Machine 2 to run.

Heavy Hip Hop Drum Sounds

DopeSONIX describes the kits as fat, with an emphasis on the heavier side of Hip Hop production. The pack covers kicks that thump through the mix, snares with a hard crack, and live-sounding hi-hats and percussion that add atmosphere to a beat.

The developer says the samples were run through outboard gear before release. It notes that this processing added weight to the kicks and snares while keeping the top end of the hi-hats and percussion tight and crisp.

Stereo and Multi-Out Kits for Mixing

The pack is split evenly between 50 stereo kits and 50 multi-out kits. Stereo kits are suited to fast sketching, where a full drum sound is needed right away. Multi-out kits send each drum element to its own output, so you can balance levels, add processing and shape each part separately in your DAW.
