01Overview

808 Box 1 is a preset expansion for The Sub, the bass synth from Iceberg Audio. The developer says the 12 sounds were crafted by The Golden Army and are built around the classic 808 bass style. Alongside the presets, the pack includes extra attack profiles, so you can shape how each note begins as well as how it sustains. Because it is an expansion, it loads into The Sub rather than running as a standalone plugin, and it needs the full version of the synth to work.

03In depth

What is inside the 808 Box 1 sound set

The pack contains 12 named sub bass presets: Bubble, Chicken, Duck, Earthquake, Hotel, Juice, Octopus, Suit, Tape, Velvet, Wallet and X-Ray. Each preset is a starting point for a bass sound that you can edit in The Sub.

The names point to a range of moods and textures, so you can audition the list quickly and pick the sounds that fit the track you are working on.

Attack profiles and working with The Sub

Besides the presets, 808 Box 1 adds extra attack profiles to The Sub. Attack profiles control the transient character at the start of a note, which affects how an 808-style bass hits and how clearly it sits against kick drums.

The pack is an add-on to The Sub, so your sounds are created and edited inside the synth using its existing controls. The developer describes the presets as crafted by The Golden Army.
