01Overview

Wildhunt is a sample library built for Kontakt, developed by Keepforest. It focuses on tension-heavy textures drawn from medieval and fantasy soundscapes, including ricochet strikes, tonal vibrations, plucked strings and organic percussion. The instruments are captured with a multi-microphone recording process of up to eight mic positions, and the library is organized around a rhythmic engine suited to layered pulses and patterns rather than melodic lines.

Sound Sources and Articulations

The library is organized into five sections: tonal instruments, drums, percussion, weapons and whooshes. Tonal instruments include guitar, lute, cello, rebec, bass and saz, each available in long, short, vibration and signature variants. The drums section offers designed, classic, ricochet and vibration sets built from frame drum, bodhran, tabor, cajon and snare.

The percussion section covers string-based hits, coins, wood, tambourines, shakers, nails and wind and breath elements. Instruments offer up to 45 articulations and up to 32 round-robins, which helps repeated hits stay natural when played in patterns.

The microphone menu gives direct control over up to eight mic positions, so you can shape the balance between close and distant captures within each instrument.

Rhythms, Multis and Hybrid Scoring

Wildhunt includes over 3000 rhythms, 56 Artist Kits multis and 481 Elements multis. The Artist Kits and Elements multis combine instruments into ready-to-play patches, and 60-plus FX chain presets add processing to the sound design.

Keepforest describes the library as pairing with its Berserkr library for expanded hybrid scoring, which suits projects that mix organic percussion with larger cinematic layers.

Because the library is built around pulse-driven layering, it is best suited to rhythmic textures and tension beds rather than melody-led parts.
