01Overview

Dub System is built around the sounds of Jamaican dub and reggae. The developer, DopeSONIX, includes heavy deep basses, skank guitars, muted strings, electric piano, melodica, brass sections and sound system style delay and reverb effects. Dub bass, skank guitars and horns

The bass patches cover everything from live-style bass to modern synth sine waves, aimed at the low rumble dub relies on. DopeSONIX also includes skank guitar patches with major and minor chords on the neck and bridge pickups, with a choice between a Les Paul and a Stratocaster tone.

For horns, the plugin offers several full brass sections as well as solo trumpets and saxophones. Keys include an MKI and MKII electric piano, melodica, piano and a major and minor skank piano patch.

Controls, effects and playing features

Each patch can be shaped with pitch, pan, glide and gain controls, plus full ADSR envelope controls and a high/low pass filter. Poly, mono and legato playing modes are available.

Built-in effects include a Roland Space Echo style delay, a spring style reverb and a classic chorus mix option, which suit the delay and reverb heavy sound of dub. VU meters are included. The developer states that the plugin uses little CPU and loads patches quickly, which may suit laptops and lower-spec machines. Patterns can be programmed manually or played from a MIDI or USB controller.
