Sound and Character of the Dolby-A Sheen
The developer explains that the effect comes from running the Dolby-A noise-reduction process without its decoding stage. The result is a blend of tone shaping and dynamics that smooths and raises the top end of a signal.
Bogren Digital says the plugin captures the character of the original hardware unit. The aim is a vintage-style sheen without the need to work with the hardware itself.
The controls are intentionally limited, so the character comes mostly from the processing rather than from a large number of settings.
